The Jeep stalled

August 07, 2017

It's been a while since I posted an update on the Jeep. Well, that's because things haven't progressed since my last soldering effort.

Having the Jeep sitting there every time I walk into the house has been a bit of a challenge for me. When I purchased the Jeep I was really keen to get stuck in and get it on the road. As the months have progressed and as life has been a bit crazy, I have also had time to think about my "little" project. When I had first thought of tinkering with a vehicle I had in mind something a lot older and simpler. I had actually thought of an old Valiant (google it if you're too young to have ever heard of a car like that). I've always had a soft spot for them, especially the almost extinct tudor (not, not a charger).

In may ways I felt like I had made some sort of compromise on my dream to tinker with a car. The progression from wanting an old car to fix up, to killing two birds with one stone in fixing up a 4wd, to ending up owning a fairly complicated piece of equipment that will be well beyond my capability to fix felt like I had settled for second best.

This idea of compromise bothered me. I've spent a lot of my life making compromises and I wasn't sure I wanted to compromise on this.

So...what to do? Keep the Jeep and keep on plugging away? Sell it as a whole and make a few dollars for the next project? Sell it as parts and make a few more dollars?

It might sound like an easy decision but it isn't. Truth be told, I haven't made up my mind yet. It's a good thing it's too wet to do much at the moment!

Go well.
