Laughing at yourself

May 17, 2017

Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves.

Life can be hard. Life can be tough. Life can be nasty. But there is one aspect of life that is always important. Humour! I enjoy plays on words and really bad Dad jokes. Some people have suggested that isn't a sense of humour at all but when it comes to these types of jokes, a groan is as good as a belly laugh!

Mind you, you need to be careful. Sometimes humour backfires. At my wife's last birthday we were talking about appropriate birthday presents. I asked her if she had heard of the new home device that Apple had put on the market. She said no. I told her that I'd be happy to buy it for her and that it was the iRon! It's ok, my bones are healing.

If you don't get it, I'm awfully sorry about that but please get in touch with me and I'll see what I can do to "smooth" things out for you.

Another place to find humour is laughing at yourself. I love the quote that says;

"Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves for we shall never cease to be amused"

We need to be the first ones to giggle at something silly that we have done. Be it sending completely inappropriate texts because of auto correct or when we do something that probably needed more fore thought. Laughing at ourselves diffuses all sorts of negative emotions and helps us to be happier, healthier and dare I say it, funnier people!

Go well.
